Independent mortgage research, sourced to the agencies and built to be checked.

Independent Research

Our data comes from public sources and industry surveys โ€” not from companies looking to sell you something.

๐Ÿ“Š

Real Numbers

We build estimates from actual rate data and published sources, updated regularly as conditions change.

๐Ÿ“Œ

Sourced & Transparent

Every state figure links to its source โ€” the Tax Foundation, state housing agencies, HUD, the VA, and the FHFA โ€” and we're upfront about how the site is funded. See how we research this.

Our Mission

Buying a home is the largest financial transaction most people ever make โ€” and most buyers navigate it with surprisingly little understanding of what their payment actually includes, how much total interest they'll pay, or how small changes in rate or term affect their long-term cost. Lenders are legally required to disclose certain numbers, but the complete picture is often scattered across multiple documents.

QuickMortgageCalc.com was built to make the math transparent before you need it: full PITI breakdowns, amortization schedules, total interest calculations, and side-by-side loan comparisons in plain language. The goal is to give buyers the same analytical tools that lenders use โ€” so the numbers aren't a surprise at closing.

How We Research

Mortgage calculation methodologies follow standard actuarial amortization formulas and are verified against published figures from the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau and Freddie Mac Primary Mortgage Market Survey data. Property tax and insurance estimates are derived from state-level averages published by official tax agencies and insurance industry sources.

When a figure cannot be confirmed from an official or peer-reviewed source, we present the methodology and direct you to verify directly rather than publishing an unconfirmed number as fact. Full details are on our Editorial Policy page.

What We Are โ€” and Aren't

We are an independent consumer research publisher. We are not a law firm, an insurance agency, or a financial advisory firm. Nothing on this site constitutes legal, financial, or insurance advice. The calculator and guides here are for informational purposes only and are intended to help you have more informed conversations with licensed professionals.

The site is free to use and supported by advertising. We may connect people who request it with licensed professionals in relevant fields โ€” we may receive compensation for such referrals at no cost to you, and you are never obligated to engage anyone. Our research is produced independently of those commercial relationships.

Who Runs This

Brad Burton is the founder and editor of QuickMortgageCalc.com. Brad has spent over a decade building consumer-facing research tools across mortgage calculations, home insurance, homeowners insurance, life insurance, and consumer financial research โ€” translating complex regulatory and financial systems into plain-language resources that help people make informed decisions before consulting a professional.

His work is rooted in a straightforward observation: the institutions people deal with in these situations โ€” insurance companies, courts, lenders, carriers โ€” have access to data and expertise that most consumers simply don't. Building tools that close that information gap is the mission behind every site he publishes.

The site is maintained by a small editorial team. Content is reviewed for accuracy regularly and updated when laws, rates, or published research changes. We are not licensed professionals in the areas we cover, and we say so plainly โ€” our role is to make reliable information accessible and point you toward the right experts when your situation requires one.
